  Environment Protection

Probably the best mean to protect environment is awareness generation. Awareness generation programmes are organised in the villages. Special emphasis is paid on the villages along India's lifeline the Ganga river, which is increasingly becoming polluted owing to human interference. The participants brainstormed on prevention of felling of green trees and keeping the Ganga river clean.

The participants of the programmes are of the opinion that they have to stop felling of green trees at all costs and make efforts to keep the Ganga clean. Various steps that may be taken up for environmental safety of rivers are continuously explained to the participants.

GNA has got thousands of saplings of various species planted in several villages of the operational area. To protect the saplings from dying, it has formed Plant Protection Team in 15 villages. Workshops are also organised for protection of saplings and trees.

Falling ground water table is a cause of grave concern in Western Uttar Pradesh. This is particularly affecting availability of drinking water in rural areas. Camps are regularly organised for steps that may be taken up for maintaining water table. Suggestions have come to fill the ponds and extracting clean water. The villagers are also being made aware to remove shortcomings of drinking water.
